The P5 Innovations team is led by Founder and President Dr. Obadiah Plante, who has over 25 years of experience in building research teams, platforms, clinical programs, and companies. Dr. Plante holds a Ph.D. from MIT in Organic Chemistry and received his earlier training at Columbia University and W.P.I. He advises multiple early-stage biotech firms and investors while serving on the advisory board for the WHO Antimicrobial Resistance working group, the steering committee of the New Zealand RNA Center, and the board of directors of GlycoNet.

Throughout his career, Dr. Plante has built industry-leading, collaborative research programs. As a principal investigator, he established and managed over 100 research collaborations, many of which were recognized by government and NGO funders including DARPA, CARB-X, BARDA, DTRA, NIST-ATP, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, IAVI, and many others.
BIOTECH EXECUTIVE
Dr. Plante has held scientific leadership roles in multiple venture-backed and public companies. Most recently, he led innovative research teams and external partnerships at Moderna and Visterra.
INNOVATOR
Dr. Plante holds several patents covering diverse areas such as mRNA vaccines, antibody-drug conjugates, synthetic methodology, and conjugate vaccines. He has multiple publications covering topics like mRNA vaccines, mucosal immunology, novel monoclonal antibody-drug conjugates, antimicrobials, and synthetic methodology. His technology has been licensed to multiple private and public companies.
